7 Best MAC Paint Pot Dupes

Every nice eye look has a good base behind.

Now, some people wear an eyeshadow primer, or a concealer, or any cream shadow base. But think of a product that does the job of all that? That is when you get MAC Paint Pots. This is such a versatile product that has multiple uses.

Of course, because it is a MAC product, it comes at a quite prominent price. For anyone who regularly uses it, repurchasing it can get expensive. Also anyone who will not use it that frequently may not want to spend so much on it.

I know what you are thinking. MAC Paint Pot dupes? Yes, that is correct! But should we let MAC flaunt its brilliance first? Sure!

Original Product: MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot

  • Shade Range: 6
  • Texture: Cream
  • Purpose: Primer; Cream Shadow
  • Benefits: Long-Lasting; Grips Powder

This product deserves more hype than it gets.

A one and go crème product that does so much for you. Its rich texture does not get in the way of blendability. It glides over smoothly, and does not set in your creases. On its own, it acts as a cream eyeshadow, and does not need to be set.

Interestingly, you can also use this as a base for your powder eyeshadows. It will act as a primer and be a good base that will not budge. Because it effectively corrects and conceals to some extent, you will get the coverage you need.

The fact that it is long-lasting adds to the reason why a makeup enthusiast should invest in it. Nevertheless, it is expensive, and it does take a lot to afford it.

Hopefully the dupes will fill up its absence in your lives! So I will talk about them now!

7 Best MAC Paint Pot Dupes

01. NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Eyeshadow Base Primer

  • Shade Range: 4
  • Texture: Cream
  • Purpose: Primer
  • Benefits: Maximizes Pigment Intensity

My love for NYX goes way back. That is no new story here.

This is a super affordable alternative to MAC Paint Pot. The texture is quite close, and blends just as easily. I would not suggest wearing it as a cream eyeshadow. But if you can make it work, who am I to judge?

The most important part is that it works great as a base. It does not have an extensive range of undertones though. I mention this because undertones help us cancel out discoloration and correct the tone.

This makes your eyeshadow last longer and makes it appear more vibrant. It adds brilliance and intensity to the pigments and grips them well.

Overall, would I purchase this? Yes! It is a good dupe at a cheap price!

02. Revlon Colorstay Creme Eye Shadow

  • Shade Range: 13
  • Texture: Cream
  • Purpose: Eyeshadow
  • Benefits: Acts as a Base

I know what you are thinking!

This is neither a primer, nor a base. But, trust me. I have some experience and I know the ways in which it can work like MAC Paint Pot.

Firstly, it is a beautiful eyeshadow on its own. It has a matte finish and it is opaque. Pretty much a one and go product. But I love how it makes any shimmer shadow applied on top really pop. It holds on to the pigments pretty well.

But yes, do keep in mind that it will not conceal or correct your lids! It will simply act as a base.
There are a lot of shades available and I have some of them in my collection. Considering that they are

pretty cheap, I think you can try them out!

03. Milani Eyeshadow Primer

  • Shade Range: 1
  • Texture: Creamy
  • Purpose: Primer
  • Benefits: Lightweight; Crease-Proof

This is a very basic eyeshadow primer that I think everyone should try.

Do you have that one eyeshadow that you just cannot make work? It looks lackluster, dull and just plain boring on your eyes? I have a few and they just suck all the fun out of me.

This primer, I swear to God, will make the dullest of pigments pop. It adds vibrancy to any shadow applied on top. One swipe of shadow and you will notice how it grips to the pigments with all its might!

It’s a nude, more of a translucent shade so it will not correct or conceal much. But it surely will do its job as a primer!

Make sure to pack pigments all over because any spot left uncovered may feel tacky on the lids. In short, this is a great primer and it is so, so cheap!

04. bareMinerals Gen Nude Eyeshadow + Primer

  • Shade Range: 8
  • Texture: Creamy
  • Purpose: Primer & Eyeshadow
  • Benefits: Long-Lasting; Crease-Proof

A super close dupe to MAC!

Like MAC Paint Pot, this is a multipurpose product. You can easily use it as an eyeshadow on your own- swipe some on and you are good to go.

But if you like, this also acts as a great primer too! It will grip tightly the pigments applied on top and make them appear more opaque and vibrant. So you see how this is a perfect dupe, do you not? You can surely replace MAC with this!

This comes in 8 shades so that is a lot of options, even more than MAC. The shade range is pretty extensive for a base so it has its own functionality.

In my final verdict, I would say that this would definitely be in my collection no matter what. I may not repurchase MAC, but this, I definitely will!

05. SHANY EYE & LIP Primer/Base

  • Shade Range: 1
  • Texture: Cream
  • Purpose: Primer
  • Benefits: Nourishing; Smudge-Proof

If you want a primer you can rely on when the world falls apart, this will be it.

Firstly, you might ask why I think that this is like MAC Paint Pot? No, it is not because this comes in a pot. I think this is a good dupe because, you know how MAC acts like a good base? This does so too!

Like MAC, this has a cream texture that blends out nicely. Interestingly, this product has nourishing properties. It is also lip primer, so I think that the nourishing properties are mostly useful for the lips.

This has a smudge-proof formula which will work out great. It is priced very cheap, which is a plus point. The only con is the lack of shades!

06. Bare Minerals Escentuals Prime Time Eyelid Primer

  • Shade Range: 1
  • Texture: Cream
  • Purpose: Primer
  • Benefits: Long-Lasting; Fights Oiliness

I really enjoy the silky texture of this! Feels so luxurious!

Within a budget, this is a great dupe that you can use. You cannot however, use it as an eyeshadow on its own like MAC Paint Pot. But as a base, it works just as well as MAC, if not better.

For your eyelids, this is a really good primer. Most people mainly face problems with their base as eyelids get oily with time. The oil breaks down the eyeshadow and it fades away. With this primer, that will not be a problem as this helps tackle oiliness!

Just like MAC, this will be long-lasting, so that is one less worry too! And need I say, it is much cheaper?

07. Jolie Neutralizing Eye & Lip Primer

  • Shade Range: 1
  • Texture: Cream
  • Purpose: Primer
  • Benefits: Long-Lasting; Multi-Purpose

This is a tad bit near the edge of a good budget, but still cheaper than MAC Paint Pot.

You must notice that it is a multipurpose product as you can use it on your lips too! This will prime your lips to hold on to your lip products.

But that is not the point. The point is that it is as good of an eye base as MAC. It will intensify the color of your eyeshadow and really hold on to the pigments. Being slightly tinted, this will provide the opacity your base needs!

I am of course upset at how it does not have more shades like MAC, but that is okay. It is one of the best dupes you can get at this price point!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1# Will MAC Paint Pot Crease?

Ans: No! MAC Paint Pot stays put for long hours. It does not budge, and does not crease. Creasing only happens when you have kept it on for extended hours.

Also, while applying eyeshadow, make sure that the Paint Pot has set. Do not put a lot of pressure as if it gets displaced it will crease.

Q2# Is MAC Paint Pot Long-Lasting?

Ans: Yes! It can last up to 24 hours on your eyes without budging. But there are some factors that affect it, one being proper application. Also rubbing your eyes may affect its longevity and cause it to smudge.

Q3# Is MAC Paint Pot a Concealer?

Ans: In theory, no. But the idea behind it was to make it multi-functional, so it can work as a concealer. That being said, this is only applicable for your eyelids. It will not be as effective when used elsewhere!

Q4# How to Find the Right Shade of Paint Pot?

Ans: Easy! You just have to take into account your undertone, and find that in MAC. However, if you have discoloration, then pick a shade warmer. That will cancel out the darkness without looking ashy or grey!

Are you ready to rock some serious eye looks? I surely am! And for that we do not need to throw the big bucks. The MAC Paint Pot dupes I mentioned should do the work! I hope this article helped you!
